Question About Intellectual Vitality

So, when we are writing the Intellectual Vitality essay, does a student:

1.) choose a topic and elaborate about why you like the topic
2.) choose a topic and elaborate about what the topic has spurred you to do in terms of your schoolwork/EC's/other activities

Thanks for your help, sorry if this is a dumb question.

“Reflect on an idea or experience that has been important to your intellectual development.”

as in #2… correct?

Not necessarily, evillakers. The question is designed to be more open-ended, to elicit discussion of any ideas and or experiences that have had a significant impact on your intellectual development, and thus give insight into your thought processes. It’s fine if you choose to relate the response to particular activities, but it’s also fine if your response occupies a more theoretical dimension. HTH.

Maybe helpful answer: either 1 or 2 could be good.

Somewhat helpful answer: search the forum; this essay has been discussed a million and a half times, since it has been around for 15+ years. Everything you might want to know about this essay has been discussed ad nauseum before.

Unhelpful answer: if you have to ask how to answer this essay, you’ve already failed at answering it.

I wrote about a book I had read and how it changed my way of thinking. like mentioned above, it is an open ended question

I wrote about playing a game as a kid. They said they liked it.

It’s open-ended on purpose. There’s no cookie-cutter answer.

Sadly this ^^ is true. Anyways, I wrote about how I spend my time on the computer.
