Question about laptops..

Hi i'm an incoming freshman and I have a few questions about laptops at UDel.

First off is there any deals that can be had through UDel?

Second, how often do people use their laptops in classes?

I'm currently looking at laptops and I think I ave decided that 17 inches is too big, but if i'm leaving it in my dorm room all the time it doesn't really matter...

Also if they are used in classes, do classrooms have plugs to charge them up? Or would I need to have a battery that lasts me all day?

Thanks in advance for any help =)

In response to your first question check out UD’s IT website at “it.udel.edu” for deals on cumputers. You will first need to get your UD NetID at NSO to avail yourself of these deals.

Thanks I checked it out, now does anyone else think I will need to bring my laptop to most classes? I’m posting on this board because laptop use in classrooms seems to be dependent on the school you go to…

As no one else has responded I asked my D about this. She graduated from UD last year. She said about half the students would bring in laptops to type class notes. She did not have any classes that required students to bring in laptops. She thinks that students now may be beginning to use I-Pads as well (but you have to be able to type really fast to use one). She said in the classrooms she was in there were some electrical outlets but they were relatively few in number. You had to get to class really early to ensure you could get one. Most students used battery power. Hope this info helps.

PS: She also stated that most of her professors provided Power Point Outlines/Notes so that you really didn’t have to take a lot of notes.
