I recently lost my ID card...or so I thought. The day after I lost my ID, I went to get it replaced; maybe I should have waited longer, but I figured that since I need it to get into my residence hall, to eat, etc, I should get it replaced quickly. Turns out, right after I got my ID card reprinted, someone emailed me saying that they had found the one I lost. What am I supposed to do? Turn in the old ID? Is it ok if I keep the old ID in a safe place in case I ever lose my ID again, or would Cornell people get mad about that? (Or has the old ID already been deactivated?) Haha, thanks for any responses :)

It should have been already deactivated. You can of course test it by trying to get into your dorm with it, but I think that deactivation happens pretty rapidly after you report it missing.

It is deactivated as soon as you report it missing, so it is worthless.

Remember there can be lots of other things tied to your id card. Cornellcard, dining plan, BRB, laundry all in addition to getting into your residence hall. Getting into the residence hall is the least of your worries.

you get a free one the first time you lose it. after that, i think its about $25. they keep your picture as it was and restore all of your money on it. you have to go to day hall to replace it

^im pretty sure it’s $75 for a replacement
