So I have two first names, no hyphen between them. A fake name that matches the length of my real one for example is Emanuel **. However, I looked at my social security card and it doesn’t have my middle name on it. It’s just Emanuel Last_name. So when making my FSA ID would I put ********** as my first name and E for my middle initial? Or do I fit as much as I can for first name, ‘Emmanuel Brad,’ and use my actual middle initial?
Also, anybody know how long SSA verification takes?
You need to put the first and last name as they appear on your SS card.
I don’t know somebody with to first names.
Normally you have one first name and you can have many middles names.
My daughter has two first names, no hyphen, but much shorter than yours (each name 4 letters). Her entire name (she has a middle name) is on her SSN. She put her double first name, middle initial and last name. OFTEN people use the second first name as a middle initial, and it didn’t hurt FAFSA at all.
My daughter tries to be consistent, always using her double first name and initial from her middle name.
If I had to do it again, I’d give her one first name, no space or hyphen. Live and learn.
@twoinanddone thanks, I didn’t have idea.
Think of names like Mary Lou or Anne Marie. Some people want that as a first name, always to be used together. My mother’s name is Mary Lou, and Lou was her middle name but she wanted it always to be both names so started using Marylou.
It was an issue for my daughter at high school graduation. The school insisted that ONLY a first name be used so we had to argue that daughter’s first name was her double name. In the graduation program, there were a lot of kids who’d used both names (Carol Anne) or only used a middle name, and it was hard to recognize them in the program since it read “Carol” or “John” (when the kid only used his middle name. Stupid rule. They should have just asked the kid which name they wanted.
Lots of people have names that are too long for the forms. Don’t worry if you run out of spaces. Just put in as much of your double first name as possible, as much of your middle name as possible, and as much of your last name as possible.
Sorry, I meant B for my middle initial, not E.
