I was wondering how I could coordinate pre-o (FPC for me) with the arrival of my stuff and moving in. I'm not planning on shipping anything because I only live an hour from Yale and my parents would not be staying in a hotel or waiting around for me, but instead would have to drive to new haven at a certain time. So is there a designated time I would be coming back from FPC so that my parents could meet me? Also, would they know where to meet me? Would the buses (or w/e) bring us back to Yale after the pre-o? And where does pick-up for FPC occur? Are we first meeting at Yale and waiting for buses to take us to the location or are we going straight to the location? Thanks - sorry this is such a long question.

almost ALL of the pre-orientation groups end up on Old Campus by about 3pm on move-in day. One of my suitemates went to FPC last year, and I think she got back around then (that's when I remember seeing all the FOOT and Harvest groups arriving, though), but her parents were already there in the morning starting to move her stuff in. If you live somewhere nearby, you can probably just send your parents down in the morning, ask them to pick up your room key & ID (i THINK they can do this, but you might want to email your college's master's office and ask; even if they can't get the key/ID for you, there ought to be other people from your suite there who would be willing to let them in) and start moving your stuff in for you; you should just be able to meet them when you get back to old campus.

Hard to remember exactly, but last year FPC kids were back around noon. Your room door will be open, so your parents can move your stuff in, but they'll have to get your key in order to lock the door. Keys can be picked up at a table in Old Campus. You don't need to be with them; they can get the key for you. Have your parents meet you at your room. As for your other questions, I'll ask my son, an FPC leader this year, chime in when he wakes up.

My son says that pick-up and drop-off last year was at Phelps Gate. If you have a cell phone with you, you can call your parents when you're leaving FPC and meet them at your dorm. (It's about an hour from the camp for FPC back to New Haven, so the timing works out just right.) Remember, you can't park at the curb around campus---you can at most loiter for about 3 to 5 minutes while you quickly unload (but there will be many upperclassmen from your residential college there to help you unload and get your stuff to your room). My son is getting there a day early for FPC podleader stuff, so he doesn't know what time you're supposed to meet to leave for FPC.
Thank you so much to everybody who replied! It seems a lot less stressful now...
