Question about prereqs

How bad of an idea is it to apply to med school before taking a second biology course/lab? I've taken all my physics, chemistry [plus Biochem (chemistry coded), A-chem], a semester of biology, all my english/math, etc. I have a 3.9+ in chemical engineering, but wouldn't be able to take Biology II until this fall due to work commitments. I'm not worried about taking the MCAT without it, but how much will it hurt my ability to get in to schools?

You want to present the strongest application to med schools because you will be competing with candidates with completed course work as well with all the bells and whistles med schools want in future students.
Your adviser is telling you this is a good idea?

I plan to talk to my adviser about it this week. I’ve just seen mixed responses to this question in my research on this. Some people say not to apply if you haven’t taken all the pre reqs, while others say just to make sure you take them as soon as possible. For my case, I’ll be taking the last one (Biology II) in the fall.
