How do you think I should go about answering these questions? Should I simply be concise and straightforward or should I include some prose and be engaging?

When I applied (and was recently accepted), I did a little bit of both. However, I still only used two lines or less for each response. I guess my responses were all fairly concise.

To be more specific, I used creative adjectives to describe the things I listed. That’s how I think I was able to show my personality in my short responses. In the end, my answers pretty much sounded the same as they would have sounded in an actual conversation.

If you’re talking about the favorite books / movies, etc questions, I just listed mine off plainly. I was also accepted. I don’t think how you write your answers will have any bearing on your acceptance; I think Stanford just wants to see what types of things you’re interested in.

I think the diction/style of the short essays are much more significant than that of the short answers.
