Both parents are north african but my skin is pretty much white. Is it possible to say african american on apps or should I just go with white?

say that you are african american. even if they don’t believe you you have proof to back up your claim.just be truthful,. and btw saying that you are african american will actually be to your advantage for most colleges that look at ethnicity.

Look at the first pg of the stickied thread about race at the top of this page for definitions. Follow this guidance rather than an ethically sketchy hs poster.

For those not wanting to go to the sticky, the term “African American” is not to be taken literally. It’s meant to apply to people of non-white sub-Saharan ancestry. No white South Africans, no one from North Africa. You can argue that’s unfair, but that’s what they mean.
