Question about recommendation

Sorry for calling you out like this Ben, but I wanted to know what the value of a recommendation from a coach(at MIT) is in terms of being admitted. Basically, how much would a coach's persistence help if the student already meets a high level of academic achievement?

Thank you

lol, does ben have pm enabled? If so, you could have pmed him

Yeah i thought of that, but I thought some other people might have the same question

Some other people may have answers to it as well.

""Athletic talent, like music, art, theater, etc. talent, is a talent that you bring to the admissions process. For music, we have our music faculty evaluate applicants' talents; for athletes, we have our varsity coaches help us with evaluation. We are proud of having one of the largest athletics programs in the nation (I believe that only Harvard, a Division I school, has a larger number of varsity sports teams). MIT is a Division III athletics school, though, so athletics aren't something that will get you in the backdoor. As Marilee says, there's only one way to get into MIT, and it's the hard way."

That's from Matt McGann's blog

So how much will athletics influence the admission decision?

Well I'd imagine it would be just like being a legacy: It helps, but not nearly as much as at other schools.

Not very much.

I love it when you guys answer questions for me! Matt's comment (quoted above) is perfect.
