Hey guys,

I took the ACT 2 times and the SAT 2 times. I did better on both tests my second time. So say if a certain college X does not use score choice and requires either the SAT or ACT. If I decide to send my ACT, I know that I will have to send all of my scores in (from both sittings). But I DO NOT have to send my SAT scores, right? So basically my question is, if a college disallows scores choice, does that require me to send both SAT and ACT scores even though I only want to apply with ACT scores? Sorry for the convoluted sentences...

Thanks,
killer

If a college says you can use EITHER the SAT or ACT to fulfill their testing requirements and says that you can submit either, then yes, you can just send your ACT (eg. Yale).

About schools that don’t permit Score Choice: They always require that all sittings of the SAT be sent because all scores will be sent for one price. For the ACT, some schools require all sittings be sent (eg. Stanford), while others require that you report all sittings on the CA but only require that you send a Score Report for one sitting since you are charged for each sitting (eg. Yale).

Great, thanks so much!

^ Even for Stanford, you may send in only one ACT score if it is due to a financial reason. That’s mentioned on their website. Also, Stanford also asks you to send in both test ACT and SAT of you took both.

bilcsho,

Yes, S does have an financial hardship exception. Note, my example of S was not about sending both ACT & SAT, but rather referred to sending multiple sittings of the ACT.

^ I just want to supplement whatever information that is missing. Your answer is generally correct.
