In filling out the common app....

How do you account for senior stuff that hasn't happened yet?

For example, main sport - will be 4 year varsity athlete and have earned 3 letters so far and will earn a 4th, but sport season doesn't start until November. How do you describe that?

Or for choir....selected for district choir junior year. Will audition and hope to be selected again for senior, but tryouts not until November or December. Do you write "will audition?" or just write "district choir" without the year? Etc...

You can check off the boxes for year 12, but under the details, you can list the highest accomplishment you achieved so far (i.e. District Choir, Team Captain, etc.). If you should happen to get a higher award in February or March, some schools allow you to send a written letter explaining this, but most of them will have already made their decisions by then, so one more leadership level may not matter that much. If you are waitlisted at one of your preferred schools, you can write them telling them about all of your accomplishments since you turned your application in and they MIGHT consider this, depending on how they work their wait list.
