Question about the Common App Personal Statement

<p>the limit is said to be 6,000 characters, right?
but the instructions say that the essay should be anywhere from 250-500 words?
mine is about 4,600 characters (with spaces), and adds up to about 825 words....
would that be a problem? when i print preview my essay, the essay isn't truncated or anything, so i should be fine?</p>

<p>also, what's the online character limit on the essay for the yale supplement?</p>

<p>825 words is a lot, so unless you're sure it's gold, I'd trim it down to at least 600. Going way over the limit shows that you can't follow directions and/or annoys the person reading your application.</p>
