Question about the dorm policy?

I will be a freshman at UMCP this fall, and will be living on campus. I had an...unpleasant experience with the university provided mattresses during orientation, and was wondering if students are allowed to bring their own mattresses, as long as the original mattress is returned? Thanks for your help.

If I recall correctly from floor meetings you’re not allowed to remove any furniture from your room…so it’d be kinda hard to get a mattress out (since I’d assume you’d move it out and then back at the end of the year, because otherwise it’ll take up so much space) without an RA or the front desk seeing you. Because I do remember even if you bring your own desk chair you’re supposed to keep the provided one in your room.

You are allowed, however, to purchase some sort of foam padding to add on top of the mattress before covering it. I think my parents went out and bought a memory foam thing.

^Yeah I’d definitely recommend a foam pad…it makes the bed a lot more comfortable.
