Question about the "FAT" letter? (ED admits)

Will the students that were admitted ED also receive a “fat” letter at the end of March? When decisions were announced for ED the only thing that was given was the online acceptance letter and a link to pay the deposit. Just curious if those students will get the fun of the “FAT” letter. Or, I guess I should also ask, should my son have received a larger admission packet yet???

From what I’ve gathered from past threads/post, the “fat letter” is mainly just a student’s award letter.

So yes, I’d take a stab and say around the end of march, if not earlier, you should receive one.

The fat letter is more than just a student’s award letter. It has the official acceptance letter, your aid award (if you got in all your FA stuff in on time) and these letters are all enclosed in a huge (thus, fat) folder that has campus info, housing info, Pittsburgh area info etc. It’s actually so big it didn’t fit in our mailbox when my D got hers 2 years ago.

It’s super exciting to get one of these in the mail. CMU is tons and tons of work, but you will be EMPLOYED when you graduate, that’s for sure (which is a parent’s dream come true!)

So, everyone gets one, even the Early Admisions folks? Glad to know! Thanks!

Sorry, I meant Early Decision folks!

Yep, but since you got your letter in December, it won’t contain any letter. Just a big info packet

@alizarin‌ I received mine today(3/28) after acceptance under ED. UPS will probably deliver it Monday. For an ED applicant, there really isn’t very much new or “useful” information as a lot of it is geared for students who haven’t decided on a college.
