question about the reading period

I wonder if the students are required to stay on campus during the reading period. My understanding is this period is designed for students to prepare for their exams. Do most classes meet during this period? Can someone share the experience?

Thanks.

A few classes (mainly foreign language courses) continue to meet during this period, but it's not the norm. Students aren't required to stay on campus as far as I know, but there are usually a lot of final papers and take-home exams due during this time of the year (for classes without final exams), and classes that do have final exams generally have review sessions during reading period. So, most people are around.

thanks for the quick response. nice to hear that. S might need to have some dental procedure done during winter break, it would be nice if he can stay home a little longer as he might need liquid diet. I guess as long as he makes prior arrangement with the professor/instructor, he should be fine.

This info was also helpful for me as well. Thanks for the quick post

Freshmen are required to be on campus "in residence" for reading period - although most proctors are pretty flexible about this rule. It might not be a bad idea to follow it, though, at least the first time around when you're figuring out how + how much to study.

thanks for the advice, justforgetme.
