question about the school of art and design

I was looking at the school's portfolio requirements and I was a bit confused by this:

*A portfolio is required for all students seeking admission to the School of Art and Design. Students are responsible for submitting their portfolio in person or online.

Please note that if you are completing the Common Application, the Arts Supplement is not required.*

So is it basically saying that if I apply using the common app, that I don't have to submit a portfolio? Or is it saying that in addition to submitting a portfolio, if applying using the common app an additional art supplement is not necessary?

nvm stupid question, it’s probably saying that an additional art supplement isn’t necessary.

I think probably it’s what you also understood of it, but if you have something to show then you should definitely scan some of your drawings.
