I heard that the chances of someone getting in EA were way lower now that ED1 and ED2 are a thing at UChicago, is this true?
probably
@sciGirl123 - Agree with Snark. UChicago doesn’t publish ED/EA rates of admission so who really knows? It appears from the most recent stats that ED isn’t a substitute for a poorer quality application, but specifying a preference and backing it up with the financial commitment at a school that really cares about its yield? Yeah, ED is going to help. Keep in mind that ED1 might have a better admit rate than ED2 (which is a bit farther down the food chain and after they’ve already admitted two pools of kids). Finally, don’t make the mistake of applying ED merely to increase chances at a top school. Adcoms can see through that one. Only apply ED if it’s your top choice and you know you’d attend if admitted.
