Question About Wellesley

A while ago, I heard someone mention, during the college deliberation process, that at Wellesley, they would have the chance to take classes at the five college consortium. But then, I heard from a friend who will be attending Smith, that Wellesley isn't in the five college system. Can anyone tell me, which is it?

Wellesley offers cross-registration with MIT.

It would be a rather longish commute, more than an hour each way, to the Five Colleges, centered on Northampton in western Massachusetts: Smith, Amherst, U/Mass-Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke. Wellesley does not offer cross-registration with the Five Colleges though I believe it is part of the 12-College Somethingorother where you can spend a year at one of the other 11 colleges, which include (I believe) all of the Five College Consortium.

Yeah...you have the right to be confused.

Posted Live! from Northampton.

yes; my sister had a great experience taking a semester away from Wellesley at Dartmouth. Ultimately, she ended up at med. school there because it was such a positive experience.

I also remember her taking a class at MIT taught by Noah Chomsky.

A lot of Wellesley students also get involved with student-run public service at Harvard through PBHA <www.pbha.org>. There are Wellesley volunteers at the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, run by PBHA, and employed as senior counselors at the Summer Urban Programs.</www.pbha.org></p>

mit, olin, babson, and yes the 12 college something or other although i have not yet cross registered myself...i think there may be more...
