I am a junior right now and planning on taking 4 APs for sure next year, but I am really confused on what I should do for the fifth, Calc BC. I took Calc AB sophomore year and self studied BC and got a 5 on the BC exam. You might be wondering why I would want to take Calc BC again then. Well the thing is, when I self studied BC, I did it in less than a month, which was good enough for the exam, but the problem is ive forgotten much of the BC material already - don’t even remember what a Taylor series is anymore haha. I am afraid that by next year I will have forgotten the AB material as well and I want a chance to learn BC properly so I will be prepared for college. Thus, I want to take Calc BC next year. The reason I am not just reviewing the material again is that I simply dont have the time right now, and won’t have it next year either with 4 APs and the other 2 I am planning to sudy, in addition to extracurriculars. So my question is, will colleges look down on this action? Will this hurt my application? Should I even do this?
A thorough answer on this would be extremely helpful!
it’ll look strange that you have a score for BC sophomore year then took the class senior year, but, well, it’ll be an itneresting talking point to discuss…
You’re planning on self studying an additional 2 on top of your in-school subjects? If you have the time to self study, then I would suggest not self studying the 2 on which you were planning and using that time to refresh your knowledge of Calculus and studying some post-AP math topic. I think that taking AP Calc BC after having already taken the exam will look strange.
thanks for the posts
- sorry for the late reply, and I ended up not signing up for Calc BC, I will most likely just try to review it over the summer and part of next year.
