For Notre Dame’s writing supplement, on the section where you have to pick 2 out of the 5 essays, it says answer in approximately 150 words, not exceeding 200 words. My essays are about 180ish to 190ish words long. Even though it doesn’t exceed 200 words, would it give them a bad impression because it’s not really close to 150 words?

No, it wouldn’t give them a bad impression. They just want essays around 150-200. Being somewhere in the middle is fine. I’m at about 200 for all of them, so don’t worry as long as you are in range.

don’t worry about that, 180-190 is fine. I think they do that so instead of just saying “not exceeding 200 words” they also give you an estimate so you know not to submit a 30-40 word submission
