I am definitely set on pursuing a career in the healthcare industry. My original goal was to major in biomedical engineering with the possibility of attending medical school after completing my undergrad. Lately, I have been interested in becoming a pharmacist. I enjoy biology and chemistry, and it also has a high starting salary. The job outlook concerns me though. I have read about people with PharmD's that are over 100K in debt with no job. Should I take this into account when deciding?

From what I see among my friends, pharmacists are much easier in finding jobs than biomedical engineers. If you are willing to relocate into more rural areas, there are alot of pharmicists jobs available whereas the biomedical companies are very picky with people and most requires masters. And even then, there are already alot of masters of biomedical engineers compare to the number of biomedical companies out there.

Are you only interested in being a pharmacist because of the money? Because
- From what I hear, the job can be pretty monotonous and boring, and
- High starting salaries are misleading because I am under the impression that there’s less “upside” (meaning that even if some other career has a lower starting salary than the pharmacist, the other career’s salaries advance faster such that eventually the other career is paid more)
