Question: FAFSA and Multiple Colleges

I'm transfering from a Florida community college to a four year in Spring 2011 and I've gotten into a few Universities and I'm waiting to hear from one last university before I make my final decision. The problem is I keep hearing about comparing finacial aid packages from different universites but I can't find out how I'm supposed to do this. How do I find out my Financial Aid/FAFSA awards from the multiple universites I've been accepted into and compare them? In the past when filling out FAFSA I believe I've only had the option of selecting one college that I knew I was going into so this confuses me. The only FA I'm sure about is my Bright Futures and Florida Pre-paid. Do I need to re-apply for FASFA since I'm transfering in the spring even though I've already recieved it for this fall at my CC?

Thanks for any kind of help. I really appericate it :)

When you complete the FAFSA, you can submit it to up to TEN different colleges at the same time. Are you transferring for Sept 2011 or for Jan 2011?

If you are transferring for January 2011, that is the 2010-2011 school year and you can and should complete and submit THAT FAFSA to each school to which you have applied ASAP.

If you are transferring for September 2011, that is the 2011-2012 FAFSA and that doesn’t become available for submission until January 1, 2011.

In any event…you submit the FAFSA and any other information the colleges want (check each website for requirements for financial aid applications AND the deadlines). The SCHOOLS will each prepare a financial aid award for you and you will get it sometime just after your acceptances. If you are applying for Jan transfer, you need to do this ASAP.

If you’ve already filed the 10/11 FAFSA because you’re currently enrolled, just log in to your FAFSA account and amend it to add the schools that you have applied to. You will not file a new FAFSA for 10/11. I would suggest emailing the FA offices at those schools to let them know that you have added them so they will know to package your FA.

Thank you! I’ve amended my form.
