Question for admissionsDan

Hi! I visited Tufts earlier this year and loved everything about it. I was wondering if there is any merit aid offered at Tufts? I don't think my family would qualify for financial aid but my parents don't want to spend much more than in-state tuition (I'm from Virginia 20,000-30,000). If there's any advice on merit aid or scholarships that you could offer, it would be much appreciated!

See [Financial Aid - Office of Undergraduate Admissions - Tufts University](<a href=“Tufts University”>Tufts University), which says: “The University does not offer merit aid, with the exception of National Merit Scholarship Corporation awards.”

Oh that’s too bad, but thank you!

WCAS is right. Tufts was one of the schools that was on my shortlist and they were adamant about no aid. Period. No discussion. My experience was that Tufts was true to its word in this area, whereas a number of the other schools that claimed to offer no merit aid (wink, wink) seemed to find some “grant” money in the corner of a drawer somewhere when I asked them to look at my FA app again, especially when presented with award letters I had received from competing schools. This was Spring 2009, but I assume it remains so…

If you really consider Tufts your #1 choice, and if you can swing the cost of Tufts considering what can sometimes be paltry aid, then go for it because it is a helluva school. I personallly could not swing it financially. Good luck.
