How soon into your first year were you able to start shooting a film or working on other students' projects? How hands-on is the program, especially for freshmen? I was looking up the 2013-2014 courses, and it seems like the first-year classes were more theory, history, or criticism oriented, rather than dealing with actual production, but I could be wrong! Any info would be much appreciated!

My daughter is a freshman screen writing major, and had lots of opportunities to participate in film projects. There are also lots of “co-curriculars”, like working on Emerson Channel shows.

That’s great to hear, thank you! I don’t know the format of the writing major, but has she started work on creating scripts/screenplays yet? I’d imagine if the writers are able to, the production students would, too.

You are welcome. She is actually switching to WLP, but I think she did some script work.
