Hey everyone,

I was wondering if CompSci is considered an Engineering major? The engineering website doesn't have CompSci, only EE. Thanks!

Hey everyone,

Hi Richard XDD

There are two pathways for Comp Sci:

Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Yale Engineering
Computer Science at Yale College

It really depends on what you want to do. In a nutshell, EECS is more hardware-based, while CS is more software-based.

Okay then don’t have to write that pesky third essay

Thanks!

I have a question related to Engineering so I might as well ask it here:
If you apply and get into Yale (which is rather unlikely :D) without saying that your intended major is Engineering and without writing the Engineering essay, can you still take Engineering classes and eventually major in E once there?

Thanks!

^ Yes - totally.

But let me ask you this: If you really want to study engineering, why not just directly apply to Yale Engineering? You can always switch into the College if you change your mind.

Does Engineering have less affirmative action discrimination against Asian kids?

iceui2: Because I have never had a chance to even explore or try out Engineering, and so I’d like to take a few classes in it before considering it as a serious major option / enrolling at the Engineering school.
