How'd you study? What books, websites, etc did you use? I'm a decent writer but improving paragraphs and recognizing sentence errors really trip me up. Any suggestions?

Just correct every grammar mistake on facebook until you take the SAT. That’s what I did, and I got every MC question right on the writing

The SAT writing section was my strongest (I got a 790). I basically did every practice writing section that I could get my hands on, whether it be online or in the test prep books/old PSAT exams. Reading blogs really helped me a lot too (since many people do make lots of mistakes and I became quicker at picking them out). Whenever you are reading, just make a note to yourself to be aware of the writing style/grammar/etc.

No, screw that. Don’t waste your time with practice and just do as I did. It didn’t help me much on the essay, but I got all of the MC correct.

My practice was the ACT. They give you feedback on what you did well and what you could fix. So I took their advice while taking the SAT and got a 12 on my essay and 780 on the entire writing portion.

I got an 800 on the writing section (10 essay). Honestly the only practice you can do is take practice tests. Personally I don’t really think that you can practice for the essay. You’re either a good writer or you’re not. As long as you can get a 10 or higher you should be good.

Read more on rules of grammar (like apples vs. oranges, etc) through Princeton Review, Barron’s, etc. Then, keep practicing and applying your newly learned knowledge by being a grammar Nazi! You don’t have to say correct people out loud when you notice their mistakes, but you can make mental notes about them. That’s my suggestion on Error ID. As of paragraph improvement, I have nothing; it was the paragraph improvement section that costed me the 800 on Writing, haha.

^sent you a pm

bump .
