Question for SBUAdmissions

Hi Chris:

I've been reviewing recent posts and have a question that I hope you can answer. My son is actually a current freshman at SBU. At the end of the Spring 2009 semester, he will have a total of 57 credits (25 from AP's). From what I can tell, that will classify him as a Junior at the end of this year.

According to the website and the parking folks, that means he can qualify for a parking permit next year. But, in a recent post you mentioned that a Junior is classified as <57 credits. Can you confirm if he has a total of 57 credits that he'll be considered a junior or does he actually need more than 57 credits? We're from Rochester and it would be very helpful if he had his car on campus to get around and to get back and forth to home on breaks and he's counting on it, but I can't tell from the website if he'll qualify or not.

Thanks -- I realize that this is not an admission question per se, but I'm hoping you know the answer.

Your standing converts at the time you complete the credits... so as soon as that 57th credit is posted to his record -- at the end of whatever semester that is -- then he can apply for a parking permit.

So yes, he should be okay for fall.
