Hi,

I was accepted to a school which I am attending, for the Spring semester. However as part of this deal, going abroad for the fall semester is mandatory. But due to a medical condition, the school is not making me go abroad and is letting me take classes at a different school until I start the Spring semester. I'd assume there are a few other kids in the same situation as me but 99% of the students will be going abroad thus making other friends. I do know a few people that are starting in the fall and a few who will be coming in the Spring after going abroad. Do you think it will be hard for me to fit in and make friends because everyone will have already made friends abroad?

Good to know your not attending a school you weren’t accepted into.

As far as your question, the capacity of to make friends depends more on how outgoing and charismatic you are, and how people relate to you than location…You can make friends with people at your other school, and maintain contact with the few people you know while they are abroad through internet/phone.
In short, don’t worry about it. Unless your a misearable ani-socialite, with bad breath.

Is this Middlebury?

LOL @ StraightsJacket. That first sentence made my afternoon.

Why would the friends people made abroad matter? Isn’t that like worrying about the friends people have from high school?

You shouldn’t have a big problem. It’s only one semester.

Just make friends with people other than students. You’re in a foreign country! Make friends with the locals and you will experience life through their eyes.

StraightsJacket, you’re way to hilarious, my friend.

haha no my point is is that i wont be going to another country due to an illness but it is mandatory to go abroad first semester unless you have an extreme case like me, 99% of the students are going abroad
