Question for those who take AP Chem

I plan to self-study as my teacher is not as knowledgeable as I’ve expected, and I’m hoping to earn a 5 on the exam? Do you recommend me purchasing Chemistry: The Central Science 14th Edition (the newest version that cost a shoot ton of money) and taking notes/ practicing with the chapter exercises?

Also, what were your general study methods (such as how to note take, techniques for problem solving, etc)? A response ASAP will be very much appreciated as I would have to self-study soon.

I more or less self-studied all last year, and managed to pull a 4 (granted, I had more APs to worry about). I just used the PR book, but I’m told Barron’s has more information that can prove handy. See if your class textbook has online resources that you can connect to, as there may be quizzes and online explanations that are more thorough than the class is. You really should do as many chapter exercises as possible, as those are the heart of the AP exam. I don’t think I focused on notes so much as solving the problems. Good luck!

If you don’t mind, can you tell me your daily study schedule for AP Chemistry? Right now, I am just reading the chapter and then doing the exercises in the book. Do you recommend me also doing the challenge problems? I’m also taking notes ATM, but I don’t think it’s really effective since I’ve never been a note person.

Thanks for the suggestion.
