Question for those working in the industry

My son called excited about declaring a major but discussed some things I have no idea about.

He is trying to decide between Nuclear Engineering and Electrical Engineering. With the current economic concerns he is trying to weight out the advantages and disadvantages of both degrees. He loves the Nuclear Engineering aspect thinking that there is a bright future in our world. He is also looking at the longevity and thinking there will always be a great need for electrical engineers across the entire country in most all industries. Of course, he wants to go with his heart but is trying to rationalize it all out too. What are the thoughts in the cc world among professional currently in the business I could pass along?

As a systems engineer, he won't pick a specialty until his 2nd class year. It also depends on the fact that there may not be enough people for a given specialty. They usually have about 6, and offer 3-4 that show the most interest.

Yeah, he will select it now, but will be able to change it during the beginning of his 2/C year...I wouldn't worry too much about it...

...should be a deckie!
