question, is cornell easy/hard to get in

I'm sorry, but the OP's arrogance and inability to take responsibility for his/her low score really irritated me.

I agree (10 chars)

hey guys
I have an 1870 SAT and a 3.1 GPA (weighted) . . . Cornell will understand I'm just a bad test taker and I underacheive at school, right?

lol jerk..

lol i no geez guys, u never kno, this whole site is speculation...

I love the concept of the "bad test taker". It's such a lame cop-out. You know why tests exist? To test you. Society divides people out based on performance, and tests are the only way of judging performance. Duh. If you cant cut it, you're screwed. Tough luck. You think a baseball team would sign a player if he went and said "hey, I'm a great player, but I just suck in the 9th inning"? No.

thanks for the honest input. sorry if i sounded like a jerk. im done with this thread. hoping for the best... peace.

It all depends on when he/she actually began learning English. If it was only 2 or 3 years ago, then sure, wouldn't they give her something of a break? Especially on the writing. The reading should be higher even with only 3 years of English, imo.

But never should someone use the "I'm bad a standardized tests" excuse!! Just never give excuses, period. Just state the facts and let the admissions person make that judgement on their own (If the admissions officer deduces the excuse on his or her own, it's a lot better for you!).

It's ok . . . I'm going to get rejected anyways lol

at least you have a good attitude ;).

Minority status is not going to get you in. Your test scores are dangerously low. You don't have a hook.

Cornell is not a safety school for anyone.. and it is rarely a match. When you start playing with the top twenty schools and ESPECIALLY the ivies, it's very difficult to try to bank all on one school and try to call it a safety. It's not.

If you're applying to college of engineering good luck... based on the people i know personally who got in, they were all stats (extremely high scores) and all robots

Seriously. I highly doubt Cornell is a match or safety for anyone. I too was insulted by snowgirl's arrogance. Unless you have some significant political connections or have donated millions, you have the same chance as any other applicant.

I've noticed something. Many people look down on Cornell for some reason. I'm not too sure why but I think it's just because it has a high acceptance rate. I know people who only calculate a school's worth by how difficult it is to get accepted. Do people not understand that the caliber of students applying to Cornell is different from the caliber of students applying to, for example, USC or UCLA (nothing against the schools). Just an observation that's been irritating me recently. It's sad stuff.

And sometimes the college admissions process seems like a crapshoot. No one here REALLY knows what they want anyway, or we'd all get in. We can only rule out the extremes, but other than that it's hard to say. So sometimes when we see someone with 1700 get into Cornell because that person was attractive for some other reason unknown to us we say "hey maybe they don't care about test scores that much after all/they realize there are bad test takers." Anyway. I forgot what my point was.

wow you people are crazy a$$holes...the girl wanted an indication of her chances and you people tore her apart. I got in: male w/ 1930 SAT (550 CR). Ergo, if its your only weak point...there are many other things taken into account.

but of course your test scores (on the whole) must be much higher for some schools in Cornell than others.

slowclap i missed it why are you insulted...im too lazy to read your previous posts on the other pages

lol, I tend to be a crazy *******.

we tore her apart 'cause she called it a match school with those stats.

ah I see 1910. match? please. i did however bank on cornell. it was either cornell or clown school for me..
