Well I'm going into my first year of university at UT Austin this year and I fortunately recieved enough aid to pay off all my housing, tuition/fees, and books. However the aid I received was based over my father's income in 2005. Since 2001 my father has been laid off so it was expected that I would have a 0 EFC when I filled out Fafsa because our income was less than 20k. However, in Oct. 2005 my father found a contract job for only one year. Our income for 2006 will be near 50k but after October my father is out of work again and we will have no income. So I am wondering first of all if we have to do Fafsa each and every year for the university, and if so do you expect with a higher EFC our aid to become completely shut off even though my father will be out of work? If I do become ineligible of aid is there some way I can protest or write a letter explaining my situation or will I be stuck with receiving nothing?

Also note that this year I received both the Pell Grant and Texas-Grant along with one scholarship to help funding if that is any indication.
