Hi, everyone!
I have joined a sport team but I never play any official match and game for the school, so there is no match score record on the public profile in the internet. If I plan to apply some ivy league schools, should I write my participation in the team on the Extra Curricular activity? Or this will not help at all or even look bad on my overall impression?
Thank you!

If you’re on the team, you’re on the team. List it. Nobody is going to scour the internet to check up on a claim such as this.

Thanks for your advice!

put it down if it makes you feel better. Simply being on a team is not the kind of EC that is going to impress the admissions officers at the top schools.

The question about impressive ECs comes up regularly on the forum. There is a thread with several posts by Northstarmom, a Ivy alum interviewer, about what constitutes impressive ECs from the point of view of the most selective colleges. Take a look thru the thread and you can decide how you stack up. The post is at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/210497-those-ecs-weak-so-what-s-good.html

As you will see from that link, at the most selective colleges they are looking for depth more than just participation. Stanford, for example, says
Joining a sport team doesn’t sound like it reaches the level of what they look for, IMHO.
