I am currently a sophomore at BCC (Burlington County College) and I am looking at a variety of schools to transfer. One of the schools I am looking at real hard is the University of Michigan. As of now I am working towards a liberal arts degree. At the time I wanted to be a teacher. I still would like to be a teacher. As of about a month ago I have really looked into a sports management degree. The problem with SM is that it seems all the jobs lead to ticket sales, which I have no problem working but I need a fallback plan in case SM does not work out. That's where my aspiration to become a teacher comes in handy. I want to get a degree in both teaching and sports management. My thing is if I apply to Michigan for the sports management program, how do I declare a major and minor. Do I have to apply to one school over the other as Kinesology is offered for SM and Teaching is offered at the school of education. Is it possible that I can apply for SM and take a bunch of teaching courses so that I obtain a teaching degree and a SM degree but wouldn't that defeat the point of applying to a certain school within a school? I am just very confused as to how obtaining two separate degrees works. Any info is appreciated.

Sometimes crossing over different Schools within a university is not easy. You should call UM and ask, they are the primary source and will provide the most reliable answer to your question.

At some schools sports management is under the school of education (like at Washington State university) where you can get a teaching degree. check into other schools as well
