Question on Required Essays for PLME applicants

I am a prospective PLME applicant, and therefore obviously inclined towards the Biology-Chemistry fields.

Is it necessary to fill out the 10a portion of the Brown Admission Supplement, namely the Chemistry/Computer Science/Geology/Physics questions part?

In essence, would it work against me if I DON’T answer that question?

Thank you in advance.

As being a PLME does not require you to concentrate in those fields, I’d imagine you should complete that essay if your plan is to concentrate in one of them. With that said, I’m not an admissions officer - I can’t say for sure. That’s my gut reaction, though.

If you want to major in chemistry, then you need to do the science supplement.
If you want to major in biology, then you don’t need to do the science supplement.
Isn’t there a place on the application where you indicate what subjects you are considering concentrating in? If you check off chemistry, do the science supplement.

Just make sure you are consistent. As fireandrain said, if one of the three majors you put down on the Common App is Chemistry/Computer Science/Geology/Physics then yes. But, part of the point of the PLME is to give you the freedom to major in something else entirely (while still fufilling pre-med requirements) so if that is your aim, then don’t write the essay, but make sure that the ad com can see that it is your aim elsewhere in your application.
