On the common app essay, I want to send in different essays for a couple of schools. Should I write "see attachment" in the box? I'm going to send in my essays to the schools anyways.

i don't quite get your question. Each school only require one common app essay and the supplementary essay(s). Don't send more than they ask

No, I mean that I have two different essays in which I both hope to use for my common app essay.

George washington will have essay #1 (because i think it fits better with the school)

while University of Richmond will have essay #2

Since the common app is for both, should I write "see attachment" (because my school is going to send a copy of the essay in 'paper form') in the box that the common app wants me to put the essay in?

I guess what I'm trying to ask is :am I definitely required to put my essay in the box?

Here's what you do:

Say you want to send Essay X on your common app to College X and College X alone. Remove all other colleges from your Common App list. Enter Essay X into the box. Send the common app. It gets sent only to College X.
Now replace College X with College Y to the list. Edit the common app and enter Essay Y into the box. Send to College Y. Repeat the process.

Also, be aware that you cannot send an electronic attachment with the Common App.
