Question:To Anyone who has been to their CTOPS yet..

Hey.
I am going to my CTOPS this next week and I just have a quick question.

For English placement, I am aware that there is an English 101 and 102.

I got a 630 on SAT writing so I'm supposed to be placed in 101, which totally stinks because I just needed one more point (640) to get into 102. I'm just really not a GREAT standardized test taker. English has always been my strongest subject too.

So I was thinking maybe I could take in my high school transcript and show them how I have always taken the highest English class and have always gotten A's in them and see if maybe I can get into 102?

I'm just asking because I don't know how "tough" or strict they are about this sort of thing or if they'll be lenient about it because I was a point away? Are do they like standing over your shoulder while you sign up for classes..?
It probably wouldn't be smart of me to just sign up for 102 anyways, right..??

I'm not sure how lenient they are but you probably won't even be able to sign up for 102 for course selection, it will say something like "error: missing prerequisite" if you try and choose it.

do you have an AP score?

English 101 and 102 are likely VERY different than what you took in high school, you'll learn a lot more by taking both of them. These are probably the most basic, yet essential courses for any college student so I don't know why anyone would want to skip them.

It's not like you're taking college algebra rather than Multivariable Calculus or anything.
