Question to the nerds out there...

Hey, I know that there have to be some other gaming nerds who can help me with this question on this site. Here's my question:

Will XBox Live work with the University network? Do I have to do anything special in order to get it to work?

I just renewed my XBox Live subscription and I play NHL 08 and Call of Duty 4 online with my buds from time to time. I just want to know if I'll still be able to play on the University network. Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)

you might need to register all the devices you connect to the network, so when you get a paper to register your laptop check off the game system option too. and yeah there's no reason it wouldn't work with the network.

well you just have to get it activated on netreg

College House Computing - University of Pennsylvania

note the option for activating game consoles.

we sometimes had some problems with ours. you have to register the mac address, and then you may have to play around with it to get it running. it won't work with the wireless, but the wired ethernet should work fine for you, assuming the ports are turned on. if you have any trouble ask an ITA - they're used to and trained for that stuff

It makes no differenec to me whether its wired or wireless. I just want to be able to get online :)

What's the connection like? Is it pretty lag-free or are there frequent spikes in gameplay?

The connection there while i was over the summer was very good. Great upload and download speeds

The only thing that (usually) affects connectivity is traffic in your room - if your roommate was downloading gigabytes of porn, it might slow your xbox connection down. other than that, you'll find it's some of the fastest internet available.
