Can they make any decision if the school hasn’t accepted you yet? Say you applied, and then you had a few problems with the application. Then you had your audition. Can they do anything? Like can they reject you? I’m just wondering. I was recently accepted but had my audition in January.

Call the school and find out! On their website it says: No one will be admitted to the major without audition. No audition will be scheduled until the university has received your application. Further down: Admission to the Theater Programs (BA and BFA) is contingent upon academic acceptance to the University. So it seems to me that if your application was in and you were granted an audition, and you’ve since got your academic admission in place, then you should be in line for them to artisically consider you. Website also states: All decisions on acceptance into the major will be made at the end of March, 2011. They have one more weekend of auditions (2/26-27), then they should (hopefully) be starting to make their decisions. Waiting is hard…trust me…we’re waiting to hear from Pace (and several others), too…

But if they were just going to reject me would it matter?

I just want to know whether or not I’ve got a shot.

Not sure I understand your question…Pace is a very selective school for artistic admissions…so no one knows if they have a shot artistically at this point. Academically – you said you were just accepted (I’m assuming that’s your academic acceptance?) so that piece is done. From the information I pasted on the site, the qualification to audition is to have APPLIED. Then, when they get around to making artistic decisions, that’s when you need to have the academic acceptance in place…which from your post, it looks like you do.

So…like many schools, it’s a two-pronged process. Get into the school academically. Get artistically accepted. More people will hear a “no” than a “yes” with the artistic decisions…but none of us will know until the school notifies people. I haven’t heard of anyone receiving artistic acceptances yet. I do know of a couple of people (who did receive their academic acceptance to Pace) who have received an artistic rejection…so hang in there. They are still auditioning people, and they have a lot of decisions to make.

As for does the academic acceptance matter, even if a student is artistically rejected? To some schools, yes. If you are academically accepted to a school, you could choose to attend in a different major, if not accepted to performing arts. So some schools will not release an artistic decision until an academic one is made…

Are you waiting to hear from other schools? This is a tough time. I told my husband I feel like a chicken sitting on an egg…just hoping the dang thing will hatch!

Did I answer your question? Still, the best information comes from the source – contact Pace if you have questions about your status!!

I think we’re both confused.
Let me explain it more. I applied in October or November. Signed up for my audition. They had problems with my application. I auditioned on the 29th of January. I was accepted academically on the 15th of February.

Could the theatre program have made a decision? Like could they have rejected me even though I hadn’t been accepted academically? Or could they have done nothing so that the fact that I haven’t heard anything be nullified? Or would it still be a good thing?

Ah…that is the situation I was thinking. So your concern is that you haven’t heard artistically yet? As I said in my earlier post, I’m pretty sure no one who has auditioned has heard anything about their acceptance to the MT program. My kiddo auditioned on 2/5. Generally, the longer there’s no news, the better. Seems like they are waiting until after their last auditions to make their decisions. So we keep on waiting. Re-read post #2 “All decisions on acceptance into the major will be made at the end of March, 2011.” Relax – we’ve got another month or so until you will hear.

Mommafrog is correct! We are in the final stretch and this is the worst part. My D applied applied in December, was academically accepted in Jan. had the audition on 2/5 and we
anxiously await for the artistic decision. I can’t believe Pace has one more weekend of auditions. It has been the longest wait. We are all in the same boat. Good Luck to everyone and I hope we hear good news soon :)
