I finished my application to USAFA at the beginning of Feb. I recieved three congressional nominations, had a strong personal activities record, and ACT scores of 31 Eng and 27 in everything else. I am a resident of WV and have not yet recieved word of my final admission status.

Should I be expecting a “thin envelope” any day now…or should I still keep my hopes up about receiving an appointment?

Also, what are the chances of being offered a falcon foundation scholarship if my application was not strong enough?

Anyone with any knowledge pertaining to my situation please help!
Waiting is no fun :(

I have been told that final status notifications "thin envelopes" are being mailed early april. I suppose that means mailed next week, us getting them the end or early following.

Im expecting mine sometime soon.

However, a lot of appointments (id say a good 2-300) are mailed AFTER FSNs are sent out. It is NOT uncommon for someone to get a FSN that says "Thanks but no thanks" and a few weeks later another one saying "Hey wait, still interested?"

Have you checked your online application status lately?
Also, you might just call and ask your admissions counselor. They seem to be pretty straight about what's happening with your application. It might settle your nerves some.

Call them, that's what they're there for. I called mine so much she could recognize me by my voice. Until you get what you want, keep calling.

The people at the Academy are more than willing to help. I've called several professors working in different academic departments, and they're always more than willing to take 10-15 minutes to talk to you. They never blow you off and actually seem to enjoy telling people about the Academy and explaining everything to them. It's really quite nice.

If you don't show initiative in calling your counselor, you will have trouble getting into the academy.

Right on! USAFA application is a bear that has to be wrestled to the ground. Be pro-active. Don't let anything happen to you. Make it happen for you!

I found this forum last week and it has been my savior. My son is in the same boat. Congressional nomination in Jan. Application complete. Medical is Potentially Navigator Qualified. Still no mail. We have left 2 messages for his admissions counselor - no reply yet. We have e-mailed his liason officer - no reply yet. He really wants to attend the appointee orientation in April, so we were hoping he would hear by now. Keeping fingers crossed that "no news is good news". We were relieved to hear that others are out there with us. Good luck to all!

ab2mom -Welcome to the CC Academy forums. This sight has been a God send to our family. Hang in there and don't give up hope. It's not over until it's over (June 29). Best wishes to your son.

This forum has helped me alot over the past few days. Thanks for all the great advice!

I called my counselor at the AFA and he informed me of my admissions status...sort of. He said "my records show that a letter was, in fact, mailed to you earlier this week pertaining to your admissions status. It should arrive within the next couple of day."

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I am also straightening out my secondary option.

The wait is almost over...thank god for that.

If i have learned anything from these boards, is that EVERY one pulls for everyone. I can testify that because, brandonc204, i am pulling for you as well!

The waiting is a killer. Even if the knews is bad, sometimes its better to just get it overwith!

But i hope thats not the case with you! Let us know!

We got the same answer from my sons admissions counselor today. She said that his file is in order and there has been correspondence recently mailed to him. We should have something in the next couple of days and if we don't hear anything by mid next week, we should call back. I could not tell either way, but her voice did not sound too encouraging. Still, we will keep praying until the mail is received.

They've probably gotten good at not showing anything in their voices from
doing it so much...anyways I hope everything works out for the best for the both of you-let us know how everything turns out when you get the correspondence.

With 3 nominations, I'm guessing you are a strong candidate.
Unless something went wrong on your PFT/CFA/whatever they call it, I would be cautiously optimistic. (Well, always be optimistic. When has it ever hurt?)
