How long to wait?

Hello,
I have the primary nomination, and have had my file complete since January 10th, and still have not heard anything. When I contacted my Academic Counselor on February 22nd, she said it was going in front of the board on Tuesday (February 27th). How long should I wait before contacting my Academic Counselor again?

I'm kind of in the same boat (except none of my 2 nominations are principal). I called my counselor about a week and a half ago and she said my file would go to panel on Monday (Feb. 26). I've been VERY anxious.

I just checked the e-mail I received, and mine was supposed to go in front of the board on Monday (Feb. 26) also. I've been having a problem of the Online Application saying it is incomplete, but my counselor said to not worry about it, and that it is just a computer error.

The Appointments are coming! Just got a thin letter dated 2/28 from our MOC announcing his USAFA Appointment. :) Funny, we expected them to call first, but they just mailed him a single page letter - guess the fat envelope will be here in a few days. Non LOA New Jersey MOC Nom w/ a medical waiver for those of you interested in that stuff.

Congrats to all and hang in there

should i do domething if ive never gotten emails from the AFA? I havent received any type of mail notifying me when my app. will go in front of the board...Im just gonna wait, but should i do something?

Congratulations Dknightfam ! I was curious whether your online application status changed on the AFA website. Did it change from "complete" to "offered appointment" or something like that ? Thanks

^^^^^757Driver-
Maybe I can shed some light for you. My sons online status changed from 'Complete' to 'Appointment Offered', & the 'fatty pack' arrived just a couple days later. HTH

Congratulations Dknightfam!! Must be some kind of celebrating going on in your house tonight!

Congrats to dknightfam!

solodefcon, I haven't received anything through email or anything like that (other than that postcard that was sent out months ago telling me about certain forms I hadn't yet submitted). I just bother my counselor by calling the Academy from time to time and that's how I found out my file went to the admissions panel.

CelticClan07, Thank you for your reply. I don't understand why the AFA releases the appointments the way they do. Someone else has said that they release about 1000 in the beginning of March. Thanks again.

That is correct, about Mid-March they will issue the bulk of appointments (about 1,000). I speak from being one among that batch. :)

Check the online status before. Usually it'll update before you get your appointment packet.

Our online status changed like many others two weeks ago, i.e. to Candidate Complete. The MOC sent us a letter on 2/28 announcing the Appointment but as of today our status on the AFA website remains "Candidate". So at least in our case we heard about the appointment before the website was updated. Still awaiting the fat envelope also from AF.

Hang in there!

Just another experience - my son's status stayed at candidate for a very long time, he received a phone call from our representative, a few days later status changed to appointment offered, and a couple of days later the package was received. His online application still does not show all of the boxes checked.

So does everyone go to the board the same time? If so, why do some people find out earlier in small batches and the majority find out mid-march? I assume the application goes to board several times then?

That's correct.

Think of it like the way they do the Baseball Hall of fame -- all applications go to the board each time and some are selected. Then they ALL go again until the class is filled out.

Hang in there it will happen. I know it isn't easy, I wasn't very patient myself. Just remember the next three weeks will fly-by, and we will be seeing each other in June.
