so… I was reading bowdoins admission criteria, and i found out that geographical residence and racial diversity was an IMPORTANT factor on the list. I was wondering if this was true and not a stupid typo in the princeton review 366 book…

i hope that it is IMPORTANT cause I am from Idaho and Idaho isn't a state that is very well represented in many colleges.

It's a typo. Geographical residence is a factor to be "considered" but is neither an "important" nor a "very important" factor. So some weight is to be given to state of residence but not too much . .

Well, I think these factors are probably weighty in some ways since Bowdoin is way up North and there isn't really much diversity in Maine. But of course, being hispanic and from Kentucky isn't everything.

Does anyone have any inside information on how Bowdoin views applicants from Maine?

actually i think the acceptance rate remains slightly higher for maine applicants. bowdoin likes to keep a sizeable amount of each class from maine.
