How much do you think your geographical location in the US plays a role in deciding admission for a student? I, for example, am from Kentucky where very few students come from. I was wondering if this is a good think, in that I would compared in a smaller Midwest pool, or is a bad thing because they have tended not to accept kids from my state. Any thoughts?

Honestly it’s not going to make a big difference. There are less students from Kentucky because less applied/were qualified. If for some reason Bowdoin really needs to up its geographical diversity (which I doubt) it’d help, but otherwise no.

Matlin, it is a good thing. No one will be looking at your file and thinking “great kid, but we have too many Kentuckians already.”
