Questions about Cornell from an admitted student

Hi, anyone can help me find answers to the following questions?

1- If you're admitted to the College of Engineering, can you take courses in the College of Arts and Sciences, and vice versa?
2- If you applied to the College of Engineering, can you change your mind and major in the College of Arts and Sciences, and vice versa, or are you admitted specifically to a college?
3- How generous is Cornell with financial aid? Do they meet full demonstrated need?
4- Is it likely that an international student will be able to appeal the financial aid decision?

The following questions are preferably answered by a Cornell representative or current student or recent alumni:

5- What do you like about Cornell, in your experience?
6- What is the one thing that you most dislike about Cornell?

Thanks a lot :)

1) Yes
2) Not too sure.
3) If your a domestic, then pretty. If your an international, not very.
4) Not very. You see, though cornell "professes" need-blindedness to internationals, its a whole different issue that even though they admit you, they won't give you aid. Cornell gives only 10-15 scholarships to Internationals/year.
5) The academic rigour coupled with the flexibility to go beyond your major.
6) The distance between the Engineering quad and dorms...ITS A FEAKIN 30min WALK!!! But there's a bus every 10mins though.

ok...I'm not a present student and will be attending Cornell with you but thought i'll answer 5) and 6) anyways...hope u didn't mind.

Arjun, have you visited Cornell? Can you tell me more about food and living situations, e.g. how many ppl in a room, whether there is mix between CE and CAS students and the likes. But hey, sometimes it's fun to walk :)

Btw, other ppl, if you have answers to any of the above questions, PLEEEAAASE reply to me. Thanks :)

no, i havn't visited Cornell. But the food is the best of any US university...the campus reminds me of paradise...
U can choose a double/single...but u only can give ur prefernces...ur then alloted a room at a dorm...u don't get to choose that

I read the packet and it says that you can also apply for an apartment (Not so sure tho). And although I haven't visited Cornell yet, I have seen some pictures, and they were kinda beautiful :) I got into Engineering, and I have another one of my friends who will definetly be going to cornell engineering (since he applied to cornell early), and he says that he may change his major to one of the CAS areas. So maybe number 2 is true. As Arjun said, taking courses at CAS is possible, and I think you can also do dual degree at Engineering and CAS as well.

OK, I'm an intl, haven't received my package. I also have questions for those who have, especially if you applied for fin aid.

1.How much did you say you could contribute and how much did Cornell give you? (I mean how many of you had full need met?)
2.Is it possible to negotiate if I really need more aid?

Hi guys, I withdraw my questions. When I asked them I thought I would be going to Cornell because my first-choice institutions did not accept me; Princeton was pending. But this afternoon I received the thick packet from Princeton, so it looks like I'll be in NJ after all. Thanks to those who have replied to my questions; it was nice to get to know you. Cheers.

to answer the question about changing majors anyways...to actually major in a different school, 99% sure you have to apply for transfer to that school. if i remember right, the transfer rates are really high acceptance tho
