Questions about Early Application

What are the pros/cons of Early Application?

Also, if you get rejected during EA, is it possible for you to reapply during the normal application window?

And finally, would you recommended EA for Ivy League and highly selective schools?

Thanks

1) pro: you might find out early you’re admitted to a coveted school – thus you don’t have to apply to as many or any schools afterward

con: you gotta get everything done early. You only have 6 semesters of grades to be evaluated vs. the 7 if you apply Regular

2) no

3) if one of them is truly your clear #1 choice and you’re a viable candidate, then yes.

If you get rejected you can’t reapply. But if you get rejected EA you certainly wouldn’t have gotten in RD.

HYPS has SCEA (you can apply to only 1 EA), other ivies have ED (you must attend if accepted), and MIT, Caltech, UChicago, Georgetown, Notre Dame, and probably more have regular EA. Whether or not I would recommend it depends on the unique situation, but in general you have nothing to lose from regular EA. SCEA and ED is more complicated.
