do students who graduate from princeton go to great grad schools overall? like business and med schools?? I know that grad school is more important than undergrad...if you go to princeton for undergrad, but don't go to great grad school in the future...it would not be too good.....
if you are not like one of TOP students at princeton, can you still get into good grad schools??? I'm just worried that i may not get into a great grad school since it is hard to keep a good gpa at princeton....and many students are very bright...of course I will work hard..but still...it worries me....

bump..........................

well if you are there b/c you are a minority, for sports, for music, etc....or for something such as having special favors being given out and don't belong there and do poorly, and you are at the bottom of the class and come out with a 3.2 GPA, you are not going to get into a top graduate school. That's life man. Good luck~!

bball87, I KNOW THAT YOU'RE NOT IMPLYING THAT MINORITY STUDENTS ARE SECOND-CLASS STUDENTS. OR AT LEAST I SURE HOPE YOU ARENT. CUZ THAT WOULD JUST BE RIDICULOUS.

My main line was if "you do not belong there" and frankly, I do not care what the reason is, and I was just mentioning a few examples. Like I said, I feel that if you do not belong there and got in b/c of x, y, z, a, b, c, ..........w.e. AND do poorly, you will not get into a good graduate school. I was just adressing the poster's question that just b/c he is at princeton does not necessarily mean he is guranteed into harvard law or medical school.

^ bball87 is correct. He didn't imply anything.

Is there something more accurate than that?

Bball has lost his/her damn mind, becuase first of all ALL students who are at Princeton because they have succeeded in one way or another. Second, a 3.2 GPA will get you into a great Business School, because the average GPA for Harvard Business School was 3.5 and University of Chicago is 3.4. For med school however, that is a different category.

first of all, to make a blanked statement that ALL students who are at Princeton belong there is just purely ignorant on your part. Anyone attendinig such a great school should be a little more observant of what really goes on and how some ppl end up at these schools b/c of favors or connections. Therefore, some ppl have to transfer out once they realize that they just cannot do well there. Hence, the retention rate at even Princeton is around 97 percent.

Does anybody know the approximate GPA ranges for quintiles at Princeton? (for anyone who didn't know, this year the registrar started reporting to students which fifth of their class their GPA falls into; it is strictly private and does not get sent out with transcripts, though)

the first quintile is about 3.7-4.0; 2nd is 3.4-3.7; 3rd is 3.2-3.4; 4th is 2.9-3.2; 5th is less than a 2.9

these are just estimates from my experiences and that of my friends, and for the class of 2008. Other years are probably higher as they were not freshmen and also did not have the grade deflation.
