Hi,
I’m filling in the ISFAA 15-16 and am struggling with a few questions:
It asks me “list below the names of the colleges and universities to which you are applying”. My question is do i have to list all the unis and colleges I’m applying to? or what?
My name consists of more characters than I can type in the boxes on ISFAA. I’m facing the same problem with my mailing address (it’s too long; it has more characters than the boxes on ISFAA). what should i do?
Please help me.
thx, tom
And while filling in the form on computer, do you guys fill in an individual character in an individual box or do you just fill in the whole word/phrase in a single line?
@sawyertom I have never filled out this form but…
Yes, this usually means “list names of all colleges and universities.” Be honest.
You might have to truncate it, or only use your first (given) name. If you have government ID, such as a passport, you should fill out as much as you can while making sure it matches your ID.
For addresses, I suggest abbreviating wherever possible. Street names often have abbreviations, even in other languages (e.g. Cm. or Cmo. for “camino,” (Spanish), Cd. for “caddesi” (Turkish)). A lot of English words are also abbreviated in street names (mtn = mountain, cyn = canyon, ft. = fort), and that could be true for your case.
Not sure exactly what you’re saying here - online forms are generally very clear about what to fill in each box. If it’s asking for your name and it gives you one line to fill it, put your whole name there (or as much as you can fit).
I wish I could help more, but I have no experience with this form in particular…
@MITer94 Thanks a lot for replying. My confusion about the form is clear now. You have been a great source of help!
^ just to add that reporting names of colleges is optional on ISFAA. You do NOT have to report all of them.
@MYOS1634 ah, didn’t know that.
Online forms often have “required” and “optional” components; maybe this was one of the optional ones.
The ISFAA is sent only to one college. It’s like on CommonApp’s “questions”, when a college asks what other colleges you’re applying to - they’re trying to determine cross admit likelihood but applicants aren’t required to provide the data. In addition, for an international applying for financial aid the repercussions could be pretty bad since they’re likely to apply to many colleges, all of which will feel like likely to award aid.
@MYOS1634 thanks a lot for making it clear!
