For your application, although it's not required, are you allowed to get recommendations from more than one teacher? If yes, do you just make copies of the one provided in the packet and give it to the teachers or are you required to obtain the official one, how do you go about that?

I also have another question: when your teachers fill out the letter of recommendations, are you supposed to take it from them and mail it yourself or the teachers are to mail it themselves?

You can get multiple recommendations, but generally its frowned upon unless the second teacher can provide particular insight about your life that the other could not. The rule as far as mailing goes, is when giving the teacher the rec form, include a stamped and adressed manilla envelope for each school that you want to receive the rec. The teacher should then photocopy their rec, sign each copy, and then they can mail it out for you.

How many recommendations does GU need? 1 TE and 1 counselor rite? I'm a bit confused coz that's what the website says but in those decision threats, many of you were talking about multiple TEs?

The standard is 1 Teacher and 1 Counselor Rec. However, some applicants choose to add another Teacher rec or a rec from a summer program if the applicant feels it could show another side of them.

Keep in mind that some of schools may require you to send recommendations for a specific kind od teacher. For example, NHS requires that you send out a recommendation from a science or math teacher, and i believe one of your choice. This is in addition to the sheet your counselor fills out.

do the reccomendations have to be only from teachers and counselors?? I want to apply to georgetown sfs and i can get reccomendation letters from people like a general manager from a worldwide company, an operation Smile director, and the ambassador of Nicaragua in the netherlands....how does this work?

When I submitted my application, I had no clue what the number of teacher recs. needed was so I just submitted two.

With mailing recommendations here's the deal: Supposedly the teacher is the one who should mail them... you are to give them stamped envelopes of every school where you want the recommendation sent. However, teachers are busy people so as long as you give them the envelope and seal it, have them sign the back of the envelope as a sign that 'you never read it.'

I personally had to submit everything in one huge big packet (late - after the EA deadline around Nov 7-8) because Hurrican Rita hit us here in South Florida the last few days of October.

So, alright this might be a stupid question, but...when Gtown gets the letter how do they know what to do with it? I mean I'm gonna ask my teacher next week when school starts. I'm applying EA, but won't be submitting the application until sometime in October. How will they know what to do with the letter, if my application isn't in yet?
