Hey, I'm a senior right now, and I'm trying to make a final decision about where I want to attend college. Pepperdine seems like an awesome school, but I'm trying to figure out if I'll feel out of place there if I'm not incredibly wealthy. I've heard a lot of mixed messages about that aspect of the school, and I was wondering if anyone has any insight to help me with my decision. I'm also a little concerned about the fact that it's in Malibu. It's definitely beautiful, but are there inexpensive places to go and things to do around there? I have to send in my acceptance letter within the next day or so, so any information would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Hi dancegirl,
Trust me, we are not wealthy! My D says she fits in fine, there all kinds of people and you can choose friends from all financial stratas. There are quite a few things to do on campus and then most of the time the students go to Santa Monica or to the valley. There is one movie theater in Malibu that just re-opened. My D has a job on campus about 10 hrs a week and she uses that as her spending money. She works in the museum and gets to do her homework while she is there. They also go to the beach a lot day and night...cheap entertainment!
Good luck with your decision...my experience with pdine students is that they are nice and th eones my D had as friends were very down to earth.

thank you so much! i really appreciate your help

Also I thought I'd mention that if you do enjoy dance, they have Songest every year where different groups perform songs and dance and compete. It is really fun and really entertaining. The sororities and fraternities primarly do it, but there are other groups. Greek is a little costly to join, but a good way to meet people and they plan a lot of things together. My D did join a sorority, it was a financial stretch, but in retrospect it was worth it.
