Questions about Rutgers Pharmacy Waitlist

So as the title says I was wait listed for Rutgers Pharmacy and I have some questions about it:

1) When do they usually notify those on the waiting list if they are accepted or rejected? I understand that we will be notified after May 1st but i was wondering around what time would i receive a reply? (like mid May, end of May, etc.)

2) What are my chances of being accepted into the pharmacy program off the waiting list and what percentage usually is accepted off of the waiting list?

My Stats(if more info is needed just let me know):
SAT:2010 CR:630 M:690 W:690
Rank: 18/486
GPA: 4.528 W
EC: National Honor Society, MuAlphaTheta, Spanish Honor Society, Co-founder and President of Allies with Africa, JSA, Volunteered at local hospital for 3 summers.

3) Should i commit to another pharmacy school by May 1st and wait until the decision from Rutgers? or should i stay within Rutgers by going into their BME program and transferring into Pharmacy if i do not get accepted?

Rutgers pharmacy is my top choice so being put on the waiting list made it more difficult for me to decide what to do since i do not know if i am accepted until after May 1st which is the deadlines for all of the other schools to make a decision about whether or not i will attend their school. If anyone can help me find a best solution to what i should do please let me know.

Besides Rutgers, I applied to University of Sciences in Philadelphia, SUNY Buffalo and Northeastern for their 0-6 pharmacy program. I normal applied to all of these school and heard back form USP with an acceptance and from Rutgers for BME and SAS, i am still waiting on my other schools for pharmacy.

4) Is there any way to increase my chances of being accepted? I already sent in my mid-year grades.

5) Is there any way to up my chances in being accepted off the waiting list?

Thank You!

To transfer into pharmacy is very, very difficult from what I have heard from others. I think your safest route would be to just enroll in one of the other 6-year pharmacy programs. If you get off the waitlist, then you can choose to drop out and enroll in Rutgers instead but if you don’t, at least you will be sure you are in a pharmacy program. If you really dislike the other 6-year program, then you can still probably apply as a transfer later on. If pharmacy is definitely your final goal then it would be better to be safe and in an actual program-- even if it’s not your top choice

I’m not sure how it works exactly, but I know there is a 2+4 program at Rutgers Camden that they allow some waitlisted students to go into. I don’t know if it will work, but maybe you can email admissions and ask more about it?

sj0593 is providing sound advice

They are going to try to notify you starting a little before the May 1 deadline, but the latest they can tell you whether you got in or not is mid-July. As for chances, it depends. They look at everyone’s application all over again and compare all of the wait-listed people to see who would be a good fit in the pharmacy program. Unfortunately, there’s really not much you can do to increase your chances other than what you’ve already done. Maybe you can go for a tour or something similar?

sj0593: Rutgers isn’t taking people off of the wait-list and putting them in Camden/Newark’s 2+4 program this year because of the number of applicant’s they received. People who were already accepted are being sent there instead of New Brunswick.
